Mitch Duncan is a Certified Athletic Trainer and is licensed in the state of Georgia. He has been the Athletic Trainer at Griffin High School since 2011. Mitch is a 2003 graduate of Griffin High School. After high school he studied at Georgia College and State University where he earned a B.S. in Athletic Training and a M.Ed. in Human Performance. While in college he completed an internship with the Atlanta Falcons as a student Athletic Trainer. While completing his masters he worked as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer at Georgia Military College. He then moved to Vidalia, GA working through Meadows Regional as an Athletic Trainer with Vidalia High School and Robert Toombs Christian Academy. After two years the opportunity arose for him to come back home to Griffin.
Dr. Tommy Hopkins
Dr. Tommy Hopkins has been the Team Orthopedic for Griffin High School since the early 90’s. Dr. Hopkins is a native of Griffin, GA and is very much involved in community and state organizations. Dr. Hopkins earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Valdosta State University. He then continued his pre-medicine studies at the University of Georgia. He earned his medical degree and completed his residency at Emory University School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine under the direction of Dr. John Garrett. He currently practices medicine with OrthoGeorgia Orthopedics located at 717 South 8th Street Griffin, GA.
Dr. Bruce Reid
Dr. Bruce Reid has been working with Griffin High School for over 10 years. Dr. Reid is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in general orthopedics and sports medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree and Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Manitoba in Canada. He completed and internship and residency through Manitoba Teaching Hospitals. He is a member of many state organizations as well as a member of the Canada Orthopedic Society. He currently practices medicine with OrthoGeorgia Orthopedics located at 717 South 8th Street Griffin, GA.

Dr. Mark Crump
Dr. Mark Crump is an internist in Griffin, GA affiliated with WellStar Spalding Regional. He received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Crump has been assisting with Griffin High School athletics for several years and can often be seen in the stands at many of the games. He currently practices medicine at 708 South 8th Street Griffin, GA.
WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital Center for Rehab Services
The Center for Rehab Services provides rehab to the athletes of Griffin High School. Specific rehab protocols following surgery or those that are not able to be carried out on campus by the athletic trainer are sent to the outpatient Center for Rehab Service. Specific communication on the progress and status of each athlete is the goal to insure a quick return to the athlete’s sport.

WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital
WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital has partnered with the Griffin-Spalding School System since the early 2000’s. WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital provides both high schools in Spalding County with Certified Athletic Trainers. In addition, WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital along with the assistance of Dr. Hopkins, Dr. Reid and many other local physicians offer free athletic physicals in the Spring to Griffin High School athletes.
WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital EMS/Griffin Fire Department
The hospital EMS along with Griffin Fire Department assists with emergency medical coverage at athletic events.
